Marceline. She is a fan of handwriting, diagrams, and physics.

Hi everyone! I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Cal State Fullerton’s Nicholas and Lee Begovich Center for Gravitational-Wave Physics and Astronomy. I am also a member of the Simulating eXtreme Spacetimes and LIGO collaborations. My previous PhD work at Cornell University was in numerical relativity and beyond-GR waveform modeling under my advisor Prof. Saul Teukolsky. My current research interests involve in preparing the next- generation code SpECTRE to simulate black holes and using Bayesian parameter estimation to help constrain our estimates on the size of beyond-GR parameters.

Other academic/adjacent interests of mine involve teaching General Relativity and related topics to undergraduate researchers via informal, interactive lessons that refine how one intuits and interrogates the physical principles at play in a particular physics problem. Lecture notes are featured in a blog I maintain.

As a transgender woman of color, I am also interested in understanding, confronting, and dismantling sources of inequality in academia. I aspire to be a good mentor and role model to those who might not otherwise believe they have a place in the field, as past role models have been to me.
